This animated comedy truly shines with its memorable and eccentric pet characters, each uniquely developed to deliver consistent laugh-out-loud moments. From the neurotic poodle with a secret rock band past to the wise-cracking guinea pig who thinks he’s a secret agent, their individual quirks and interactions are the film’s strongest suit. The vibrant and engaging visuals are a feast for the eyes, especially as the story hurtles into its action-packed third act, where the animation truly comes alive with dynamic sequences and colourful backdrops. However, the film isn’t without its minor missteps. The narrative occasionally leans on convenient plot devices, leading to resolutions that feel a bit too easy and detract from the stakes. Additionally, a few underdeveloped subplots pop up, hinting at interesting directions but ultimately feeling incomplete and lacking crucial emotional beats. Despite these narrative shortcomings, the film remains an entertaining ride, offering a generous helping of humour that successfully appeals to both kids and adults alike.
