This film effectively conveys the intensity and chaos of naval warfare during World War II, thanks to its crisp cinematography and immersive sound design, which sets an amazing precedent for all the films to come out of Apple’s new studio. However, the pacing is often slow, making it feel like a long haul at times, which, in my opinion, further conveys the weight of war. The lead performance is strong, bringing depth to an otherwise straightforward character. Despite some minor missteps in narrative development, the film’s overall impact is enhanced by its thoughtful exploration of leadership under pressure.
