This animated comedy is a vibrant and energetic addition to its franchise, with lovable new characters and witty one-liners aplenty. The film’s colourful visuals and catchy soundtrack perfectly capture the playful spirit of the Minion gang, making for an entertaining ride, showcasing the rise of Gru. However, some plot developments feel overly reliant on convenient coincidences and contrivances, slightly undermining the otherwise engaging narrative. Overall, while not being as great as the original films in the Despicable Me franchise, it is great fun, filled with laughs, and quickly becomes a classic among families.
